PASSED: H.R. 4213; temp penalty eliminated, extensions through 11/10

By now you’ve heard that H.R. 4213 has passed. Here’s a look at some of the modifications the bill has undergone over the last few months. Number one on the list summarizes the version which passed and was signed into law today by President Obama.

A quick look:

States may not severely reduce payments to those eligible for Emergency Unemployment Compensation once temp work is completed

Funding and deadlines to apply are extended through November 2010

This does not establish a fifth tier of benefits

The $25 weekly stimulus is over

State unemployment insurance is retroactive, so payments will be sent to eligible recipients starting in two to four weeks (check your state).
