Anne Maclachlan is a recovering journalist with a hard-core writing habit.
She is now a freelance writer and editor for several print and online publications, mostly in the lifestyles and features areas, with political and sports interviews thrown in for variety.
Her passions include travel as well as reading and writing any kind of maritime-related material. She is also a competitive flash fiction writer (a thousand or fewer words in 48 hours in an assigned genre), a translator of French and Spanish, a multilingual researcher, a tall-ship and small-craft sailor, and a lover of the classical arts.
She has lived in six countries, taught English as a Second Language in the USA and in a small city in the Australian bush land, speaks several languages and has written and illustrated two interactive ESL textbooks.
In response to the number of times she has been asked “Why” regarding myriad subjects, as if she knew, she created “Here’s Why” to explain the mysteries of the universe – or to find people who can.
