To answer “here’s why,” journalist and world traveler Greg Gross, editor of the nationally acclaimed blog “I’m Black and I Travel!”, will be joining us for a live chat on Thursday evening, February 11, at 6 p.m. PST, 9 p.m. EST.
Greg will cover some of the most sensitive issues that still plague us as an American culture, and whether or not these ideas are active in other countries. We will be discussing the internal and external pressures that may be stopping many Black Americans (as well as those from other ethnic backgrounds) from traveling.
Why did France become such a haven for African Americans in the early to middle 20th century? Are Black Americans treated better or worse overseas than at home? What do Black Africans encounter when traveling in the U.S.? And as Greg’s blog “I’m Black and I Travel!” starts out, why would anyone be so fiercely proud of not traveling anywhere at all?
